According to a new poll, top US economists say they'd rather see Clinton, Gary Johnson, or just about anyone else at the helm of the US economy than Trump, the Wall Street Journal reports.

At the end of July, the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) polled 414 of its members to see which candidate they believe would be the best person to run the US economy. According to the survey, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton emerged as the top choice at 55 percent, third-party candidate Gary Johnson came in second at 15 percent, an additional 15 percent of members said they had no opinion, and former business mogul Donald Trump rolled in at dead last with 14 percent.

Although Trump has run on the premise that he's made millions as one of the country's most successful businessmen, his failing casinos, labor disputes, lawsuits, shadiness surrounding his tax returns—not to mention the financial problems in his own campaign—tell a slightly different story about his money-handling savvy.

But more than that, America's top economists differ with Trump when it comes to his proposed immigration plan and opinions on trade deals. According to the study, 65 percent believe its in our economy's best interest that the country have a more open trade policy, and 64 percent believe we should have a legal pathway to citizenship, rather than deport all our undocumented immigrants.
