Twitter Puts Trump in His Place After Tweets Banning Trans Troops

The internet was not here for Trump's transphobic triggering remarks.

This morning President Trump took to Twitter for an unprovoked rant about transgender service members being a burden to the military.

The series of tweets read in full:

After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you

The message is a sharp departure from Trump's original message of listening to the LGBTQ community that he spouted along the campaign trail and his daughter Ivanka's tweet during Pride this year.

Trump's words effectively negate the Obama-era policy that allowed transgender troops to actively serve in the military. People on Twitter were not about to let Trump's transphobic rhetoric go unchecked and were quick to remind him of his own deferrals from enlisting in his youth and lack of military service in general.
