MIXED BY Applebottom

Like your house with a dose of bass? Look no further.

Joe Arthur aka Applebottom has been bubbling under the surface, threatening to burst into our collective consciousness for a while now. Since his memorable All Nite EP early last year on Kerri Chandler's Madtech imprint and some exclusive tracks for Eton Messy, the 19-year-old Bristolian retreated to the shadows for a period on the production front, but is back with a bang with a brand new 12", 'Licked/Knock It Like That', on Zed Bias' new label BIASONIC this week.

Zed's championing of the bassier side of the UK dance spectrum seems like a pretty good fit for Arthur, and his mix for Thump certainly reflects his love for fast, banging house (the first track is DJ Deeon's 'Da Bomb'), with the kind of kick that borders on techno's pounding 4/4. Hard hitting stuff, this, but nothing less than a pleasure on the ears.

Applebottom will be playing at then launch party for BIASONIC at Fire in Vauxhall on May 10th. Buy tickets for the event here.

His first release on the label - 'Licked/ Knock It Like That' is available from May 10th.
