The End of Everton-Bournemouth Was Nuts

Everton and Bournemouth played a crazy one today.

When your fans storm the field like you've won the game, and then you end up tying… https://t.co/BfIMFtXFsp

Everton and Bournemouth played to a 2-2 draw through 90 minutes of regulation play, and through much of the five minutes of added time, as well. Then things got a little bananas. As the final seconds ticked away, Everton pressed Bournemouth and the ball was whizzing around the penalty area. Happily, it eventually found its way to a tiny patch of grass right at Ross Barkley's feet. He turned around in tight quarters and whipped the ball in through the keeper's leg for what would certainly be a game-stealing goal. Everton fans were so charged up they stormed the pitch and one of them even took Barkley out.

It was an insane finish, but it was not actually the finish. Officials took their time to restore order and get Everton fans off the field before playing out the final seconds of added time and, wouldn't you know it, Bournemouth got something going. Just as the announcers were talking about "another kick in the teeth" for Bournemouth, a quick pass across the pitch, then an even quicker slash forward, and Adam Smith had played Charlie Daniels into the penalty area. Daniels then sent in a cross to Junior Stanislas's head. He hit it square and pure for a crazy equalizer seconds after rejoicing Everton fans were cleared off the pitch.
