Tentatively planned for April, the countdown is on for the eagerly awaited heavyweight boxing bout between Englishman Hughie Fury and Kiwi Joseph Parker.

With the clock now running for the fight, rumored to be held in either Auckland or Manchester, the hype is starting to simmer on what, on paper, should be a pretty good scrap.

Overnight, Fury's veteran promoter Frank Warren lined up the New Zealander on his personal website, describing him as beatable compared to the Brit who is cousins with controversial heavyweight Tyson. Both are trained by Tyson's father Peter.

"Hughie may only be 22, but I really do believe his time has come and that he will prove me right when he goes in against the recently crowned champion Joseph Parker," Warren wrote on frankwarren.com.

"Parker has the edge in terms of experience and, like Hughie, has learned his trade by taking on some fairly well seasoned opponents.

"At one stage everybody, including myself, thought he really looked the business. Like with everyone you are considering matching your fighters with, you look for chinks in their game and my feeling is that someone with a good boxing brain will beat him. Hughie certainly falls into that category.

"To my mind, Hughie is an underrated operator who now has a golden opportunity to show everyone what he is all about.

"He is not one for talking too much or engaging in any shenanigans, he takes the sport very seriously and I am delighted to see him get this reward for his hard work."

Hughie Fury sports a 20-0 boxing record with 10 knockouts. Meanwhile, Parker, who is currently rocking a 22-0 record with 18 KOs, squeezed past Mexican Andy Ruiz to claim the vacant WBO belt - which Tyson Fury gave up due to personal issues last year - in Auckland last December.

Parker is currently back in his year-round Las Vegas camp with trainer Kevin Barry. Hosting of the likely Fury-Parker bout is still up in the air, though Auckland and Manchester are the most likely places it will be held. Singapore has also been mentioned.
