In Korea, Interactive Art Installation Creates Spontaneous Town Squares

The In Between Square Project installs mobile pavilions that respond to pedestrians with laser lights.

Meant to turn unused public space into a gathering point for the aesthetically inclined, the In Between Square Project in Korea installs mobile pavilions that react to pedestrians' activities through interactive lighting, visual projections, and sounds--organizing a temporary "town square" that can respond to visitors.The structure of the pavilion is composed of cubes (side length 500mm), that are easily movable, essentially developing a one-stop multimedia hub that can also be easily transported to other parts of the country.

Currently the project is installed at two different locations in Seoul, the first on the streets of the Nonhyun district, and the second in a partially developed apartment complex:
