Pat Robertson to Grieving Mothers: Your Dead Baby Might Have Grown Up to Be Hitler or Stalin

When God allowed for "that life to be terminated," he was looking out for everybody, including the three-year-old.

Yesterday on the Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club, genuinely awful human being Pat Robertson was asked about how to console a friend who had just lost her three-year-old and was asking why God allowed her baby to die. Robertson, who looks more and more like an evil Keebler elf as the years go on, advised the friend to tell the mother that God might have taken the child's life because "that little baby could grow up to be Adolf Hitler. He could grow up to be Joseph Stalin. He could grow up to become some serial killer…" When God allowed for "that life to be terminated," you see, God was looking out for everybody, including the three-year-old. Sound logic, but probably not the most helpful line to use with a grieving mother whose three-year-old just passed away.

Plus, if God is really in the habit of obliterating children who will one day become horrible people, why didn't he drop a cinder block onto the actual Hitler or snip Robertson's brake lines before he gave bad advice about how to help a grieving mother? Ultimately, the whole point is moot, since Robertson already said that God will bring your dead kid back to life if you pray hard enough.
