New Festival 'From Berlin to LA' Traces the Unexpected Cultural Exchange Between Two Clubbing Epicenters

From Berlin to LA will feature a range of exciting workshops and panels alongside DJ sets and live performances.

Although you might not be used to mentioning Berlin and LA in the same breath while talking about dance music, a new festival engineered by Your Mom's Agency, called From Berlin to LA, is making a very strong case for the kinship. Created in partnership with the event and project space Goethe-Institut LA, hi-fi audio company Raumfeld, and communications agency Bold LA, the festival argues in their press release that "in the past few years, the manpower and cultural flows between them have grown beyond expectations." Furthermore, they're using this festival as an opportunity to "showcase the growing bond between electronic musicians in Berlin and LA – a bond that goes beyond touring on both sides as musicians exchange scene and tech intel, and absorb each other's culture."

Taking place in February across a range of Los Angeles venues including the Ace Hotel, the Standard Hollywood, Bold Space DTLA, and the Goethe-Institut LA, the festival is set to be headlined by Berlin producer Robot Koch, Friends of Friends' Perera Elsewhere, Prime Numbers' Mor Elian, and more. The event isn't limiting itself to just music, though: there will also be workshops and panels featuring music tech company Native Instruments, world famous record store Amoeba, and online music marketplace and database Discogs.

Speaking to THUMP about the upcoming festival via email, Your Mom's Agency said, "This free two-day event will show music lovers that Berlin and LA are closer than you think." Best of all, it's totally free if you RSVP on Facebook, which you can do here. Check out the full schedule below, and read the whole press release here.
