Is This US Soccer's New Crest?

By God, we hope so.

By the grace of divine intervention, the current US Soccer logo (left)—which is more at home on a 90's cereal box than a jersey—just might receive a well-needed makeover (right).

Edward-Snowden-level soccer leak source Footy Headlines claims to have their hands on the new design. Dubious? Maybe. But Footy Headlines' track record is nearly bulletproof with U.S. leaks, as they rolled out the US's famous "bomb pop jersey" design weeks ahead of Nike's schedule in spring of 2014.

The rumored new crest, which would also be under Nike's jurisdiction, falls more along the lines of the 2013 popular throwback centennial crest, designed in remembrance of the national team's 1913 establishment.

It even harkens back a bit to the 1950 crest.

Either way, it's not a bad time to throwback to. The 40-year, art deco crest era yielded some great World Cups for the U.S., including a 1930 semi-final appearance and a 1950 victory over England. I'd chalk it up to a strong crest game.

Whether or not the leak is real, something needs to be done about the trademark infringement on Domino's color scheme.
