Late last year, THUMP UK was lucky enough to spend a few days in the charming Portuguese city of Braga for a few days of wandering around its cobbled streets, gorging ourselves on pork belly and small beers. In between the Super Bock's and olives, we managed to find time to catch some of the most credible acts in experimental electronic music at the city's utterly wonderful Semibreve festival, a three-day audio-visual extravaganza that featured the likes of Nidia Minaj, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Kara-Lis Coverdale.
This year's instalment looks set to be another absolute cracker. Today the festival have announced the second wave of acts and if you've ever read an issue of The Wire you'll probably be screaming with utter joy. We've got Wolfgang Voigt as GAS! We've got Laurie Spiegel! We've got Lawrence English too! This! Is! It!
If that lot weren't enough, they'd already announced appearances from the likes of Deathprod, Fis, Kyoka, Valgeir Sigurdsson. Basically, if you like listening to good music from the comfort of a plush chair in a jaw-droppingly gorgeous theatre before heading to a fantastic club to party till the early hours, you'll 100% want to make the trip over. Do it. Do it right now.
Semibreve 2017 takes place between the 27th to the 29th of October.
