Özil Shows Up Haters With Baby-Soft Touch

Shhhhhhhh...

Mesut Özil settled a long ball along the touchline, cradled it to sleep, and shushed all the haters. Goodnight, haters.

Özil, who has long been ridiculed for not living up to his potential at Arsenal—especially given that he's the most expensive German footballer of all time—finally showed that he's worth a damn (and/or £42.5 million).

After a lackluster performance in the season opener against West Ham, Özil rang in adulations for a game in which he assisted handsome-pants Olivier Giroud with a stunning one-touch cross. A quick stats analysis done by Metro indicates that maybe it's not Özil who has been proverbially screwing the pooch, but rather his inadequate strikers.

Not all of us can be Cristiano Ronaldo, who once said of his departed teammate, "He was the player who best knew my moves in front of goal…I'm angry about Özil leaving."
