Make It Wearable Development Track Opens For Submissions!

Winners will receive a grand prize of $500,000, mentorship and incubation involving Lean Startup education from UC Berkeley, and a personal story featured online.

Today marks the launch of Intel's Make It Wearable Challenge for the DEVELOPMENT track—an opportunity for innovators to turn their wearable idea into a refined design with a business plan. Intel will call upon the smartest and most creative minds around the world to move towards the future of wearable devices and ubiquitous computing, such as meaningful usages, aesthetics, battery life, security and privacy.

Winners will receive a grand prize of $500,000, mentorship and incubation involving Lean Startup education from UC Berkeley, and a personal story featured online. The DEVELOPMENT track seeks concepts that push the limits of what's possible, balancing creativity with execution.

Candidates must submit a proposal and pitch video of an innovative and creative product concept, which will be judged on a balance of creativity, feasibility, and market potential. Proposals will also be evaluated based on strength of concept, innovative potential, feasibility of technology, business model, team dynamics, and product design.

Selected participants will also receive receive: Increasing guidance and mentorship throughout the program; Business, design, and technical development support; Intensive incubation and education. Plus, the second and third place finalists will win $200,00 and $100,000, respectively, while ten finalists will be allotted $50,000.
