Music performance and production software Ableton Live has just released a free Connection Kit that will help enable electronic musicians to create unique customized interactions with various interfaces and communication protocols. This has the potential to unlock some truly unique performance concepts, by allowing Live to be controlled by virtually anything, as well as enabling Live to control various physical devices in the real world.

The toolkit is a set of Max For Live devices, which are compatible with technologies like Arduino, OSC, Leap Motion, and others. What this means is that you could control a synth using a webcam, or use live seismic data to generate sequences, or even have your musical compositions control an army of robots. The kit also supports littleBits, LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3, and JSON-based APIs.

You can download the Connection Kit for free here and check out the video below to see its potential uses.
