Welcome to THUMP's Labels in Residency series, where an esteemed record label takes over our (CMS) decks, showering DJ mixes on you like manna from heaven. Crank the foam machine, lower the disco ball, and check back here often—there'll be a different party every two weeks. Kicking things off: the godfathers of French cool, Kitsuné.Ah, Berlin. The holy land of techno, where speed flows like water, and stumbling home at 2AM instead of 4PM is a sign that you did something wrong. It's the kind of city where people protest when there's too few rats (seriously), and also where you can grope around the darkest corners of an S&M club and emerge holding the… hand… of your new DJ partner. At least, that's how I imagine the minimal R&B group Schwarz Don't Crack first met about a year ago. NYC native Ahmad Larnes probably bumped into German producer Sebastian Kreis, who exclaimed, "Achtung! Do you like deep bass, 90s drum machines and soulful lyrics?" To which Larnes replied, "Yes! I also have a very nice voice. Let's be partners. And call ourselves Schwarz Don't Crack because [inside joke]." And so, the two future R&B heads soldiered on, signed to Kitsuné, and spun together this scorching mix straight from the cracks of Berghain's dancefloor. Enjoy!Tracklist:1. FKA twigs - How's That2.
