From Sudan to Edmonton, Mourainè’s “Poppin’” Video is a Testament to Hustling

This rapper's struggle makes others look like kindergarten.

Edmonton-based emcee Mourainè debuted his latest music video for "Poppin'," an inspirational anthem for anyone trying to achieve greatness. Mourainè along with Tom MacDonald directed the polished LA-based video, complete with city-scape views and sports cars. Vibe Beats production on the track is reminiscent to a Lupe Fiasco joint circa Food & Liquor, and Mourainè follows through with conscious lyrics like: "To live this life fast, man, you gotta get it slowly." He knows about struggle. After immigrating to Canada from Sudan, Mourainè learned English through poetry and rap.

"I feel like I was sent to this earth to set an example for people," Mourainè told Noisey, "Music is not something I just do for entertainment; I want my music to change lives. The track "Poppin" was inspired by the hypocrisy claimed by not just me, but by anyone who has a goal or a dream. I try to speak through my experience to tell the world that this year is your year. Work hard follow your dreams and come up with a strategy to reach your goal." Watch Mourainè's "Poppin'" below.
