VICE Sports World News Roundup: July 21

Start your day with VICE Sports. Here's our morning roundup of the sports news from around the world.

Good morning, America. Welcome to the VICE Sports World News Roundup. Be sure to stop by daily for your morning headlines.

It's the 20th of July, 2015, and Sepp Blatter is still president of FIFA. Yesterday he gave a press conference where he announced a series of (very vague) reforms and the date of the next FIFA presidential election: February 22, 2016. A man also threw a giant stack of money at Blatter. It was a really good press conference!

Former FIFA Vice President Jeffrey Webb was arraigned in New York yesterday. He then posted a $10 million bond. As collateral, he put down 11 watches and several cars, 10 homes, and a 2015 Farrari. Must have been nice.

The British Open wrapped yesterday with an exciting 3-way, 4-hole playoff. Sadly, the amateur Paul Dunne, tied for first heading into the last round, didn't win. He didn't even make it to the playoff. In fact, he finished tied for 30th …but good try! Zach Johnson did win. It was his second career major. He also has the best caddie in golf.

Pep Guardiola is a candidate for the Catalan separatist party in Spain. The election is on the 2th. He will most certainly not get elected, but it's a big political statement. Politics and football, everyone! It's almost like they can't be separated from one another.

Kobe Bryant says he wants to finish his career in Barcelona with Pau Gasol. This will almost certainly not happen, but don't tell Jordi Mestre, our Barcelona-based Spanish editor. If Jordi wants to dream, let the man dream.

The FIA announced it will retire the number 17 from Formula 1 competition in remembrance of recently-deceased driver Jules Bianchi. Bianchi died over the weekend as the result of severe injuries he suffered after crashing in the rain at the Japanese Grand Prix last October.

The governing body of Australian tennis is hoping to "clear the air" with Bernard Tomic, whom Tennis Australia hope to include on their Davis Cup semi-final team. Tomic, as you may recall, got a little too turnt at a party in his Miami penthouse last week. The 22-year-old was arrested after refusing to comply with requests for him to keep it down.

Tour de France yellow jersey-wearer Chris Froome has endured accusations of doping since he began opening up what is now a 3 minute and 10 second lead in this year's race. An angry fan even doused him with a cup of urine over the weekend. Hoping to assuage his critics, Team Sky released some of his performance data. Today is a rest day in le Tour.

Canada took baseball gold in the Pan Am Games, beating the U.S. 7-6 in extra innings. The U.S. is still winning the overall medal race with 169 total medals compared to Canada's 148. Brazil is currently in 3rd with 102. The U.S. also has a chance for revenge. Women's baseball started yesterday.

I am officially ready for football season to start.
