The Pervert's Guide to Ideology

With your new teacher, Slavoj Žižek.

Has it ever struck you that the iceberg in Titanic wasn’t just a mass of frozen seawater but in fact the third character in the love story unfolding between Jack and Rose? I mean I don’t really remember much of that film other than the hand on the steamy carriage window, either. But I’m not asking for myself, I’m asking for Slavoj Žižek, and he’s not the kind of guy you turn down. You know Slavoj, that hugely influential and important philosopher? Sorry I know it can be hard to put a face to a name when the name sounds like the noise your hoover makes if you accidentally stick it in a bag of haribo.

Names aside, if you like thinking about things in a novel way and you’re interested in asking yourself a variety of unusual questions relating to ideology, then read on comrade. Well not specifically read on, because I don’t really know what the important questions are, but I’m happy to point you in the right direction. That direction being a mouse movement upwards, where you’ll find the trailer of The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology, Sophie Fiennes’ new film starring (you guessed it) Slavoj himself. As well as opening your eyes to the movie, which will be released this Friday October 4th in cinemas (November 1st for US) and video on-demand, we’re also releasing a VICE Meets with Žižek on the same day. If that’s not enough to satiate your appetite, a live Q&A on the 8th will also be available on video-on-demand platforms, Film4oD and Curzon Home Cinema. Find all ticket information and your nearest screening here. That’s enough amazing stuff right? I guess just consider this Christmas and birthday in one.
