The Senate will finally vote Wednesday evening on whether or not one of Donald Trump's most controversial Cabinet picks, Alabama senator Jeff Sessions, will become the next attorney general.

The vote is slotted for 6:50 PM EST and with the entire Republican majority planning to vote for him, Sessions is expected to have a relatively easy time getting the confirmation. In his confirmation hearings, Democrats have pointed out that the conservative Alabama senator has been accused of racism throughout his political career for his hard-line immigration stance and statements like joking that he thought the KKK was "OK until he learned they smoked marijuana."

On Tuesday night, Senator Elizabeth Warren tried to read a 1986 letter that Martin Luther King Jr's widow, Correta Scott King, wrote in opposition to Sessions's federal judge nomination. Warren was stopped after Republican senators voted to formally silence her under a rule that forbids a senator from speaking badly about another colleague.
