Online Post-Dating Gives You Feedback on Why You're Not Dateable

Holy cow. I can't believe this exists. "WotWentWrong":http://wotwentwrong.com/ is apparently a site set up so that people can leave feedback for someone they dated a bit and didn't want to see any more. "According to Jezebel":http://jezebel.com/587882...

Holy cow. I can’t believe this exists, but apparently ‘post-dating’ is a thing now. WotWentWrong is apparently a site set up so that people can leave feedback for someone they dated a bit and didn’t want to see any more. According to Jezebel, it was started by Australian developer Audrey Melnik who “got the idea for this site when she went on a great date with a guy who never called again.”

The marketing, to me at least, is depressing, saying something to the effect of ‘You go out on dates with cool people and eventually they aren’t interested, which must mean there’s something wrong with you. Here’s how you find out what you can change.’

Sure, I suppose it is nice to get constructive feedback from someone about how you are in a relationship, but this seems to be saying that if anyone you date and like doesn’t like you back forever there’s something fundamentally wrong with you. What happened to just being yourself, enjoying the company of others and hoping to find someone who fits you (the real you) well?

Dating’s not supposed to be a video game where you’re constantly second guessing yourself while trying to figure out the right combination of buttons to hit in order to win. Nor is it like athletics, where afterwards you watch game footage over and over to dissect where you went wrong. (Let’s leave the bedroom out of this.) Dating should be organic and fun, not scripted, strategized and full of self-doubt. Plus, as editor-at-large Michael Byrne pointed out, wouldn’t a lot of the WotWentWrong commentary just end up being something like “You’re too self-conscious and stalker-y, as evidenced by the fact that you use a site to beg for feedback from people that don’t want to date you?”
