Parakeet Inspires Yoenis Cespedes to Hit a Homer

You could call it a reverse-Warg.

Yoenis Cespedes, acquired by the Mets at the July 31 trade deadline, hit first home run for the team last night. Most peculiar was that the yellow arm band he wore matched the color of a parakeet that had been hanging out on the field. Coincidence? I think not.

Cespedes later credited the bird for the play.

"I see other people using it, a different color,'' he said, referring to the arm band. "I just used it because I know there was a bird in the field and I just wanted to look like the bird, and it would bring me some luck.''

Obviously, the Parakeet has some kind of Game of Thrones-like power over Cespedes, as it flew over, chilled out and witnessed Cespedes' first home run. Call it a reverse-Warg if you want.

The Mets are definitely employing some black magic to hold onto their insane streak.
