Club Kuru's "I D N T" Is a Woozy Pop Song That Manages to Be Both Mournful and Sexy

It's like having a wake in a Soho cocktail club.

After having a bit of a vision while playing solo piano shows in Germany that perhaps the loneliness of the jazz club didn't quite suit him, Laurie Erskine came to London, moved in with his brother, and started messing around with his siblings extensive collection of analog synths and other weird music equipment. The result is his new project Club Kuru, and today's premiere, "I D N T", which is a woozy alt-pop song that's kinda sexy, but in an unmistakably mournful way - like having a wake in a Soho cocktail club.

The track comes from Club Kuru's Layla EP which drops on Nov 27th. Laurie explained to us:

"Originally I was working on an album. It took me so long to finish and produce these tracks that I had to split it up into 2 EPs. So some of the tunes on here are actually more than three years old. I was trying to make a record that sounded like a band but all made on the computer. I imagined ten or so people on stage but when I was making this record I was restricted with what I could record at home. So I ended up taking a long time trying to figure out how it could be done. It was actually a pretty stupid idea and I wouldn't do it that way again."

Well, it sounds great anyway. Listen to "I D N T" below.
