Listen to Two Jittery and Agitated Tracks from Sydney's Point Being

Far removed post-punk pastiche, the four piece are making an impact with their peppy pop.

Sydney’s Point Being have just released their debut double B-side 7” on Mystic Olympic records, a label run by Unity Floors’ Gus Hunt.

The band, who are made up of a chemist, a record store clerk, a marathon runner and a disc jockey have only been around for a short time but the record builds on their solid live shows that have drawn comparisons to the Mission of Burma, Wire and early Homestead records acts such as Great Plains.

“Troppo” especially is a cracking song of agitation and irritation. “I feel the sense of community”, wails vocalist Nick Roberts. “I’m feeling pretty good” he says later with an emphasis on “pretty”.

Point Being launch the album April 10 in Sydney at the Wicked Lounge with Aloha Units, Nailhouse and Tim & the Boys (featuring members of Housewives and Dead Farmers)
