Drinking Bathroom Beers With Baus

The Oakland trio consider any room is good to play loud punk and down some brews.

BAUS (pronounced ‘boss’) is Sierra Wendt, Thomas Jackson and Mike Morales, three friends from Oakland, California who blast out some fun no wavey ESG/DNA inspired drunk punk funk.

Their latest low budget, low production video for “How Many Ppl” taken from their debut album Idol Minds has them applying make up, brushing their teeth and drinking some beers in a bathroom.

Following on from a video that has had them stealing and drinking beers (do you see a pattern developing?) it’s a fun and dirty track that combines skittish beats and yelly vocals.

We spoke to the band to find out more.

Noisey: Whose bathroom is that? The mirror is going to need a good clean.
Sierra: It's Thomas' bathroom and that's the constant state of it all the time-ha!
Thomas: Actually the bathroom stays pretty clean except for the occasional cat and dog messes and footprints.

I like Thomas' style of chugging a beer while brushing his teeth. Not enough people drink in bathrooms!
Sierra: We were actually all drinking. We poured our beers into wine glasses to make it look fancier but we lost a lot of footage hah. But yeah, shower beers rule.

What is the song in reference to? How many Facebook friends people may have?
Mike: That's definitely more thought than I put into it, but somehow the Facebook idea makes more sense ha. There was a point where I was burnt out with small talk with people I don't know or barely know at shows. I guess this song sort of stemmed from that idea. I've gotten better at it since then and I no longer have a FB account haha
