PREMIERE: Little Racer - "Montevideo"

New York trio hit the indie sweet-spot with their Mod-inspired new video. Tea drinking while watching is encouraged.

Video by: Young Heart Productions (NYC).

Boil the kettle, make yourself a stiff cup of tea, and pull up a pew… actually the pew is optional and not necessary for your viewing pleasure, but Little Racer's video for "Montevideo" is terribly British so it seems only appropriate that you embrace some PG Tips (Twinings is too weak and really will not do.) There's Vespas, scrapping down cobbled back alleys, pints of lager, darts, and guitars hoiked high. Plus the NYC trio have a kick about with a football while wearing trenchcoats—obviously de rigueur for any aspirant footie (soccer) player. See? Very British. Musically the band hit that indie sweet-spot, somehow managing to conjure—in the reverbed guitars and equally echoed vocals—a Cure-like delicacy and a spry surf-pop zeal.

"The song is about picking up, taking off, finding somewhere else to be, or even someone else to be because who you are or where you've ended up just isn't good enough," explain the band. The video is just that: a story about this band as characters in some play, getting by in '64 in a seaside town in the UK. None of us want to be born a different person, but wouldn't it be nice to live out a photo album's worth of memories from someone else's summer 50 years ago?"

Indeed it would. Now sing along: "So we'll try to get by on a lousy 9-5 but we won't stop for nothing…"
