On Sunday, several people were injured when violence broke out in Sacramento, as members of the Traditionalist Worker Party (TWP) — a white nationalist group that had a permit to hold a rally outside the California state capitol — were confronted by a larger group of counter-protesters.
Earlier this month, VICE News interviewed the TWP's leader, Matt Heimbach, in Louisville, Kentucky. Heimbach, who said that he was not in Sacramento during Sunday's violence, told us about the TWP's far-right views and its ultimate goal of founding a white ethno-state.
