Derek Jeter: Captain Nautical Criminal

Derek Jeter is a bad boy scofflaw and the Air Force is sorry about it.

Derek Jeter found himself in some hot water over the Fourth of July when he was issued a citation for captaining his boat in a restricted area near MacDill Air Force base in Tampa. Jeets was given a $250 ticket as well as a $30 dollar processing fee and then put on social media blast by a member of the Air Force who posted a picture of the citation and the Captain on his boat to Facebook. The caption read: "One behalf of the Boston Red Sox, here is your ticket Derek Jeter," along with an American Flag emoji.

Amazingly, the Air Force actually apologized to Jeets for the Airman's actions.

"This action is totally inconsistent with Air Force values and the responsible Airman will face the appropriate disciplinary action," MacDill spokesman Terry Montrose said. "We sincerely apologize to Mr. Jeter for any inconvenience."

The Air Force could not release the name of the Airman and was not sure if he was involved in issuing the citation in the first place. It's apparently not uncommon for Air Force security to tag boaters with citations in that area. Even though there are signs posted warning boaters about the restricted area, Montrose said, "it's really easy to drift into those waters." Not unlike drifting down the first base line, clowning Jeremy Giambi, and altering the course of human history.
