A few weeks back, VICE helped throw a party to launch the Future Sport Project by Oakley. The project involved getting leading athletes and industrial designers to imagine future technological advancements across surfing and snowboarding. The party involved music, free drinks, and the exhibiting of said advancements. Now that Future Sport Project is finished, you can see the results for yourselves. First up is Olympic snowboarder Scotty James, who teamed up with Sydney tech/design firm Wearable Experiments on a jacket that not only maximises air time, but generates vertical thrust.
Second is young surf pro Jack Robinson and Melbourne agency Airbag Labs. They created a surfboard that changes shape in order to adapt to varying conditions.
