The Skids Are Going to Knock Your Brakes Off

Take a listen to the glam punkers debut record that brings to mind The Damned and 70s Aussie pub rock.

The last time we spoke to the Skids' frontman Alex "Zeke" Streich he mentioned that the band initially considered calling themselves Google Chrome Motherfuckers. While we are devastated that the Melbourne four-piece didn't rip their name from Italian hardcore legends Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers, we are thankful that they are set to release their debut 7". Released on new label Shipping Steel records, the four-songs rip in a rough sort of way that remind us of 70s pub/glam mixed with rough Aussie punk.

Led by Zeke's rough and raspy vocals and Steph Crase's blues-punk guitar, tracks like "On the Edge" saunt and swagger with the same kind of energy as being at the boozer on a Saturday night with Slaughter and the Dogs blaring from the jukebox.

The Skids 7" is available now on Shipping Steel Records. They launch the new record in Melbourne July 8 at the Tote.
