Yesterday, legendary "Sandstorm" producer Darude graced Reddit with his presence for a session of Ask Me Anything (AMA), a recurring series open to participation for anyone with an account on the site. As you can probably imagine, fans and casual inquirers had a great many questions for the Finnish producer about his influences, touring life, and the kind of compensation he's received for his super-popular laser tagging anthem.
One particularly sharp user named UrNotFly arguably stole the show, though, with a deceptively simple question: had he, Darude, ever actually been in a sandstorm? All of a sudden, the tone went from casual to teeth-grittingly tense in a way no one could have foreseen. The producer's short answer was, shockingly, "no." He did qualify his response, though:No, but in a smaller one, dust devil, or whatever you want to call it… AND, I've got a picture from a few years back, when I was landing in Arizona I believe it was, where I literally landed like few minutes a sandstorm blew thru the airport area and you can see the edge on the pic. I tweeted something like "I've arrived" with the pic! :)Read the whole thread on Reddit, and after that, get to know the history of "Sandstorm" before it was basically just a meme.
