Multiple Man Enter The Direct-to-VHS 90s Horror Void

Enter an altered state with the Brisbane duo's new video that is inspired by "The Lawnmower Man".

Multiple Man are the product of twin brothers Sean and Chris Campion. In saying that, they're both sick to death of comparisons to Dead Ringers, a Cronenberg horror concerning two gynaecologist twins who seduce women. Not necessarily a bad comparison for a duo who's rigid electronic music is inspired by sci-fi horror of David Cronenberg himself and the psychosexual action of Paul Verhoeven.

In "Power Fantasy", director Tim Dwyer (aka Horse Macgyver) teleports you into the world of virtual reality that has gone awry. Inspired by the 90s cult horror The Lawnmower Man, the visuals are what you would imagine the future would look like in 1992 - an strange array of acid-house computer graphics that move seamlessly with the Power Fantasy's industrial laden beat.

The video's recurring motif is of Multiple Man's signature man, taken from the cover of their latest album New Metal. That signature man is remanent of William Hurt's character in Ken Russell's science fiction Altered States. In an email, Chris told NOISEY that he's been living in a tiny house in New York City with no windows - perhaps all this science fiction and bizarre horror has become a reality for Multiple Man. Let's hope not.

'New Metal' is available now through DKA Records.
