Beats Antique Throws Down a Beautiful Remix For Major Lazer's "Be Together"

This is unexpected, but we still love it.

Major Lazer's third studio album, Peace Is the Mission, has been out a few weeks but already fits like an cozy summer sandal. The group's penchant for pairing dancehall sounds with some of the best and brightest in non-dance genres has made for a collection that might be the best of the group's catalogue to-date. They kill it with collaborations because pretty much everyone and their mother is clawing at the walls to work with the talented trio of Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire. While "Lean On," their international hit with DJ Snake and MØ has been the biggest single so far, "Be Together" is one of the more slo-mo vibe-laden cuts on the album, with sprinklings of chilled-out snares and flowing vocals courtesy of Wild Belle. But now even more intrigue has been added to the mix as Bay Area experimental fusion group Beats Antique has moved in for a remix, one that's not quite what you would expect from a group whose speciality is usually to mind-fuck everyone.

On the official remix, Beat Antique puts their gargantuan psychedelic string and bass work to the side, choosing instead to gently inject their sound, with some gradually peaking orchestral work and beautiful horns, all of which perfectly pad the original nature of the track.

It's an interesting remix choice to say the least, but what's life without the unexpected right?
