On the blog this week we saw ferrofliuds go technicolour, spoke to Memo Atken about flying drones for his spectacle of light, revisited Harold Edgerton's long exposure experiments, paused for a moment to question how we understand time, found out how the Iris camera takes photos in the blink of an eye, and checked out the floating skyscraper that is the SeaOrbiter.And on the world wide internetwork…· Grosse8 developed a prototype for a projection mapping system that can allow mapped images to rotate with an object.· Face+Heel released a new video for their spacey single “No Stars,” which looks like a DIY mashup of early videotape effects.· And while we're chatting DIY, this Australian man made a lightbulb. Oh, and it levitates.· Which leads us nicely on to this: a TEDTalk by Boaz Almog showing us how a three-inch disk can levitate something 70,000 times its own weight.· If you’ve had a hectic week relax to this peacefully beautiful video of an installation called Room Dynamics , published this week by its creator Adam Basanta.· And lastly, we saw Fabian Oefner's ferrofluid images earlier this week so here's some more of his work, called Nebulae (above) which contrary to what they’re called, are actually long-time exposures of fiberglass lamps.@pehperghost
