Listen to "Peroration Six," the Powerful Final Single from Floating Points' Debut Album

A brilliant, tense closer to what's expected to be one of the year's best albums.

We've already gotten a nice appetizer spread of Dr. Sam Shepherd's debut Floating Points album as he steadily teases tracks from Elaenia, released Nov 6 on Luaka Bop. First was the kick-off number "Silhouettes," then the equally entrancing dance routine video to "Nespole," both of which have have led us into the album's last single, and actual closing track —"Peroration Six."

Built around the producer's obsessive penchant for tension, the track builds like an accelerating bullet train, increasing its velocity in such a way that you almost feel his unease throughout. By its eventual end, the track is a mishmash of frantic drums, crashing cymbals, and churning, spiraling keys. It ends abruptly, leaving you, as many Floating Points tracks do, yearning for more.

"Peroration Six" is a brilliant closer to what's expected to be one of the year's best albums. Shepherd's final taste of Elaenia should take you right into the finish line.
