Pantha Du Prince Loves Bells So Much, He Played With a Whole Laboratory of Them

This Ableton-led project is seriously cool.

German producer Pantha Du Prince has always taken a decidedly outward bend around house music. The late 2000s saw him take stylistic leaps forward with 2007's This Bliss and 2010's Black Noise - two LPs that pulled minimal techno and house into some weirder, shoegaze-leaning strains - and last year, he went one step further and collaborated with The Bell Laboratory for Elements of Light. Bringing minimal techno and classical music together, theLP that took his penchant for bells into as literal a sphere as possible, and one that's since developed into a live show.

The team played as part of the Terry Riley-inspired In C series at London's Barbican Centre in October last year, and was documented by Ableton in a film that just went live on their official channel. Take a look at how Pantha Du Prince found out about The Bell Laboratory, their collaborative process, and how their homage to Terry Riley turned out.
