VICE Sports World News Roundup: July 13

Start your day with VICE Sports. Here's our morning roundup of the sports news from around the world.

Good morning, America. Welcome to the VICE Sports worldwide news roundup. Be sure to stop by daily for your morning headlines.

It's the 13th of July, 2015, and Sepp Blatter is still president of FIFA.

It's been a busy week of negotiations in Europe. But I'm not talking about the European debt deal! I'm talking about soccer!

  • Bastian Schweinsteiger is a Manchester United player. Many Bavarians are upset at the deal, but with Schweinsteiger turning 30 years old, it's a good piece of business for Bayern Munich.
  • Robin Van Persie is in Turkey and will probably be a Fenerbahce player by the time you read this.
  • Raheem Sterling is now a Manchester City player. The deal bringing him in from Liverpool is worth £49 million.
  • Iker Casillas is a… Porto player. The Casillas saga gripped Spain this weekend. Our Spain editor said it has grown into a national scandal and a "bucket of pure shit for Real Madrid and the player himself." After a tearful press conference that Casillas gave by himself, Real Madrid unfollowed him on Twitter. Then his parents gave a pretty amazing parents-interview. You can read it here (in Spanish). Sky has the good bits:

Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic are your Wimbledon singles champions. The win took Williams within one Grand Slam win of Steffi Graf's 22 grand slam titles record.

Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton tried to get into Wimbledon for the men's final, where he had a seat in the royal box, but was denied entry. He wasn't dressed for the occasion, having left his coat at home.

England won the first of 5 tests in The Ashes. Its team for the second test is unchanged.

Today is a rest day in the Tour de France. Team Sky's Chris Froome has the yellow jersey. Going into Stage 9 he has a 12 second lead on BMG's Tejay Van Garderen.

Steven Gerrard made his debut for the L.A. Galaxy. You can watch his every touch in this video:
