The Gaslamp Killer has responded to an allegation of rape made against him yesterday on social media. In a statement released Friday afternoon on Twitter the DJ and producer, whose real name is William Benjamin Bensussen, wrote that he "would never put anyone in a situation where they were not in control" and that the statement made by Twitter user @chelseaelaynne was "not true."
Twitter user @chelseaelaynne accused Bensussen of the assaut in a lengthy twitter post late last night. She wrote that Bensussen had "drugged and raped" her and her best friend after they met at a party at The Standard in Los Angeles on July 5, 2013. We've embedded her post below:
In response, Bensussen wrote: "I would never drug a woman, and I would never put anyone in a situation where they were not in control, or take anything that they weren't offering. Consent is intimate, and has left room for people who were not present to wonder what happened. In this case consent was between three people, in the form of an offer which I accepted."
