A baby was born in the backseat of an Uber during rush hour on Monday, just outside of the Lincoln Tunnel in New York City.

Yael Finea, the child's 32-year-old mother from Hoboken, New Jersey, felt herself going into labor and hailed the car at 5:15 PM to take her to Mt. Sinai Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan, New York Daily News reports.

Unfortunately, they never made it that far. The baby was already crowning, and no amount of rational explaining that the hospital would be a better place for it to pop out than the back seat of a Lincoln Town Car was going to change things.

The Uber driver screeched to a halt at West 40th Street and Dryer Avenue, near the Lincoln Tunnel, and flagged down Port Authority police officers for help. He told the cops the baby "couldn't wait," according to PIX 11. The kid was delivered in minutes.

"The EMTs get there. They start seeing the baby's head is crowning," said FDNY Lieutenant Rezaur Rahman, who was joined by EMTs Christopher Maldona and Matthew Herzog. "We had to deliver the baby right there. It was a very difficult technical job in the back of a vehicle."
