Dispossessed Have Announced Their Return to Melbourne

A benefit for the Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance includes Divide And Dissolve, Habits, Vacuum and Sezzo Snot.

Earlier this year we described Dispossessed as the most uncompromising, unapologetic and important band in the country. In December, we stand by that claim.

The Sydney three-piece have announced a number of Melbourne shows including a gig at the Tote on January 7 on a powerful lineup that includes Divide & Dissolve, Habits, friendships, Vacuum, Geld and Sezzo Snot.

Proceeds from the show will go to Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance, a collective of young aboriginal people committed to the cause of decolonisation and the philosophy of aboriginal nationalism- resistance and revival.

Forming in 2015, the band released their first demo Insurgency in March. NOISEY described it as "a visceral experience that weaves through fast and foreboding influences: from blackened death metal, power violence and punk, to more melodic and subtle melancholic tones of math and shoegaze. Each track screams with anger and pain, mirroring the experience of those affected by dispossession of land - feelings fuelled by the members' blend of Aboriginal, Filipino and Ghanaian backgrounds."

The killer lineup includes the unsettling doom drone act Divide and Dissolve, local legends HABITS, friendships, one of our favourite new hardcore bands GELD, the industrial breaks of Vacuum and a DJ set by Sezzo Snot.

They also play a Dec 27 show at Howler withDivide And Dissolve, Occult Blood, Axillism and Papaphilia .

Dispossessed Melbourne shows:
Dec 27 - Howler with Divide And Dissolve, Occult Blood, Axillism and Papaphilia
Jan 7 - The Tote with  Divide and Dissolve, HABITS, friendships, GELD, Vacuum and Sezzo Snot. Tickets available here.
