Watch: Seabass Gets One Of The Best Contest Barrels Ever At Margaret River

Waves were few and far between but when they did come they were absolutely mindless.

Hawaiian style-master and reigning Margaret River Pro champ, Sebastian Zietz, shocked the surfing world with one of the best barrel-makes in contest history in round one of the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro on Wednesday.

For the first time in the event's history a huge swell saw the opening round of what is the second World Tour event this year moved to nearby North Point in Yallingup, a fickle though astonishing natural wonder.

Waves were few and far between but when they did come they were absolutely mindless. Sebastian Zietz, who is from the Hawaiian island of Kauai, is regarded as one of the best and most stylish tube riders in the world. He received perfect tens across the board for this effort. Keep an eye on how far back he gets in this thing and the foam he's forced to punch through to make it out.

Elsewhere, Australian Owen Wright continued his remarkable return to competition following a brain injury suffered at Pipeline 15 months ago. He lost in round one at North Point but not before pulling into one of the biggest, heaviest and deepest barrels of the day. He won his round two repechage heat the following day against Hawaiian rookie Ezekiel Lau and will continue in round three today.

Three-time World Champion, Mick Fanning was the biggest name to lose out, going down to young Californian, Kanoa Igarashi in their round two repechage heat. Former Brazilian world champ, Gabriel Medina and Quiksilver Pro runner-up, Matt Wilkinson were the other big names to bow out in round two.

Round three of the event continues today between Main Break and back up venue, The Box, another of the most picturesque and dangerous waves in the world.
