Silent Jay - aka Alejandro Jay Abapo - has made a lot of beautiful noise in his eventful career. Alejandro is only twenty two but is already well known for his work with celebrated future soul group Hiatus Kaiyote and experimental-jazz quintet DEMIAN. He played alongside Miguel Atwood Ferguson at this year's Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and somehow also finds time to make music on his own. His original material is soulful, imaginative, and transporting; music that reflects his past experiences and his interest in what's next.

SilentJay never sleeps, so it's appropriate that this mix for THUMP begins with an alarm clock and spoken word sample telling everyone else to wake up.  What follows is an hour long journey covering the work of some esteemed beat making peers, and a nod to the masters that paved the way. SilentJay had this to say "Headphones on, walkin down memory lane,  a nostalgic blend of hip hop, soul & rnb, from the past, present & future." It's this perfect blend that Silen Jay will be bringing to his upcoming performance on the Red Bull Music Academy stage at Splendour In The Grass.
