Guests Would Live Like Han Solo at Disney World's Immersive Star Wars Hotel

You can already drink Butterbeer at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and feast your eyes on a pair of floating mountains at Pandora: The World of Avatar. But now Disney is looking to take immersive entertainment to the next level, unveiling plans for an interactive theme park and resort that will transport guests to a galaxy far, far away, hooking them up with their very own Star Wars storyline.

Over the weekend, Disney unveiled new details on Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge—proposed expansions to two Disney theme parks inspired by the franchise—at its D23 conference. Though we've already gotten a look at the attractions, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek offered a glimpse at a Star Wars–themed hotel that sounds arguably more badass than the rides themselves.

According to the Verge, the hotel—which is scheduled to open in 2019 at Disney World—would be built to mirror a gigantic starship, staffed by droids and other intergalactic creatures. Upon arrival, each guest gets handed a costume, a key to a room with views of the galaxy, and a role to play. According to Chapek, guests would essentially become Star Wars characters, getting a chance to"live out their own dedicated, multi-day adventure" that follows a tailor-fit narrative storyline.

"From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story," Chapek said. "Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100 percent immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits."

According to Walt Disney World News Today, guests can opt into flight training, ship exploration, lightsaber lessons, and even a few secret missions, if they think they're up to the task. A two-night stay at the Orlando location includes admission to Walt Disney World, comped meals, and access to an onboard cantina—essentially, a real-life Mos Eisley. This sort of immersive experience doesn't come cheap, though. As WDWNT reports, each guest can expect to dish out roughly $1,000 for a two-night stay.
