SoccerPractise’s New Video Celebrates the Freedom and Power of the Bedroom Mirror

Here's to outfit changes, dancing and acting like a clown.

There comes a certain freedom with changing outfits in front of the bedroom mirror while blasting your favourite song. For Luca Scott, the star of SoccerPractise's new video, that means multiple wardrobe changes, some cheeky sunglass play and blaring the Auckland-based electronic outfit's song "I Was Screaming".

The song is the band's second single and is precursor to the band's upcoming debut album.

Watch the video below, read a chat we had with the band's Geneva Alexander-Marsters and catch SoccerPractise perform tonight at Auckland Art Gallery as part of the major exhibition The Body Laid Bare: Masterpieces from the Tate.

Noisey: What was the genesis of the video?

Geneva Alexander-Marsters: The lyrics are a reaction I had to my dear friend Luca abruptly moving away from Auckland to Wellington. It was tough to adjust to losing someone I saw all the time and had worked with as a performer. I've always loved her personal style and we have had so many fun times dancing together. Luca had to be the focal point of the entire video, because the song is about her. I'm grateful she said yes. The narrative is all about having fun, trying on different outfits and getting ready while listening to "Was Screaming". If I could I would continually dress up throughout the day, it's the best feeling to entirely change an outfit and dance around in front of a mirror, only to rewind and repeat five thousand times.
