And Now, the Classic Onside Kick off the Opponent's Face

A high school team in Texas recovered an onside kick directly off a dude's face.

Onside kicks are like snowflakes and handmade mixtapes in that no two are exactly alike, but they all seem kind of the same. But down in Beaumont, Texas, Monsignor Kelly head coach Al Rabb came up with a new strategy for getting the ball back off the onside. Basically, the strategy is this: drill it right at some opposing cat's head and hope for the best.

Last Friday night—yes, under the lights, clear eyes and whatnot—Bulldogs kicker Adrian Medina successfully banged the pigskin off the grill of Kountze Lions hands-team member Lemuel Walters. It ricocheted back to Kayden Capps, who picked up the fumble—technically accurate, right?—or whatever it was, and scampered for a nice ten-yard gain. FIRST DOWN, BULLDOGS!

The Bulldogs special teams really used their collective noggin on that particular onside, but in the end, it was Kelly Catholic who face-planted. They lost to Kountze 34-7.
