These Stats Show the Shocking Reality of Violent Crime in Chicago

Here's how the Windy City's crime rate stacks up within the past year.

The latest episode of VICELAND's Last Chance High, the series that documents the experiences of at-risk youth in Chicago, airs tonight at 10p.m. EST.

Violence has reached epidemic proportions in Chicago. With 323 reported deaths halfway through 2017 alone, the city is likely to see a two-year trend of record numbers of homicides. Thankfully there are groups, individuals, and organizations dedicated to reducing the city's crippling levels of violence through uniting communities together. One such organization is the North Lawndale Boxing League that uses boxing to mentor young people in North Lawndale, which had the third highest violent crime rate of communities located in Chicago according to the Chicago Tribune.
