Stare into the Winter Void with Body Origami’s "Bright Hunger"

The Nashville band have ditched their previous moniker and their sound and shit's about to get emotional. In a good way.

The Nashville, TN band formerly known as Nest have taken "new year, new me" to a whole new level, renaming themselves Body Origami and muting their former southern jangle. As far as new years resolutions go, it’s a good one.

This new sound of Body Origami is War All The Time-era Thursday mixed with Deja Entendu Brand New, a soft and fleeting sound mixed with a bit of a country vibe (but not too much—there’s no steel guitar or southern drawl to be found). The song we’re debuting today, "Bright Hunger," off their new EP Thermal Blue, is a song set to linger.

"Thermal Blue is a feeling, and 'Bright Hunger' is the last few moments you get with that feeling: Begging it to stay but it won't," explains vocalist and guitarist Kyle Merriman. "It's fleeting and you'll have to find it again somehow.”

It’s the perfect music for staring out your window at the snowfall (or snow that is still there, not yet shoveled and still pristine) and remembering the things are OK. For the most part.

Thermal Blue is out on April 1 via Broken Circles.
