Sony is all set to cash in on your nostalgia.

As Sony first revealed last week, games from the best selling console of all time, the PlayStation 2, are available for purchase on the PlayStation 4 starting today.

This time, the games will look a little sharper, as they are being "up-rendered" to 1080p. Basically, they're not getting a full remake treatment, but they'll look sharper at a higher resolution. They'll also include all of the features you'd expect with a game released in 2015, like trophy support, live streaming, and remote play on Sony's portable device, the PS Vita.

The rollout is starting with eight games, and Sony says they plan to roll out more PS2 favorites on a "regular basis." The PlayStation classics will only be available in the Americas and Europe and there's no word on if they will be available anywhere else.

It's about time, too. The PlayStation 4 was the first Sony console to ever launch without backwards compatibility, and some wondered if the console would ever implement the feature. It was only a few months ago when Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Computer Entertainment's head of worldwide studios told Polygon that Sony wasn't looking at making their premier console backwards compatible. "I don't think we will change our approach," Yoshida said. "The PlayStation 4 doesn't have backward compatibility."

The classic games will be emulated on the PlayStation 4. Eurogamer has a detailed breakdown looking at the technical details of the emulator, if you're into that kind of thing.

These are the eight PS2 games that you can buy for your PS4 starting today:

  • Dark Cloud — $14.99

  • Grand Theft Auto III — $14.99

  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City — $14.99

  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — $14.99

  • Rogue Galaxy — $14.99

  • The Mark of Kri — $14.99

  • Twisted Metal: Black — $9.99

  • War of the Monsters — $9.99

The announcement didn't say anything about being able to crack open your old PS2 games and slide in the disc, and it's unlikely you'll be able to do that any time soon since Sony hopes you'll buy all your favorite PS2 games again from its online store. But this is a start.
