Remember when I told you yesterday that Eintracht Frankfurt captain Marco Russ tested positive for doping only to find out the elevated levels of grown hormone in his system were due to a cancerous tumor? Well, he played soccer yesterday, in the first tie of a relegation playoff against Nuremberg…and scored an own goal. The game finished 1-1. Poor guy.

Sky pundit Ian Holloway took a crack about the burly physique of Wimbledon striker and VICE Sports favorite Adebayo Akinfenwa. Holloway suggested Akinfenw's size was due to him possibly eating his brother. It's a weird thing to say, but they loved it over at Sky. Anyway, Akinfenwa responded (via Reddit):

Back when Liverpool ace Roberto Firmino played for Hoffenheim, his partner in crime was a German kid named Kevin Volland, who will play for Bayer Leverkusen next season. A good signing.

After months of speculation, former Arsenal and Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta—possibly the best player to never appear for his national team—will join Manchester City as a coach. He's supposedly good friends win incoming manager Pep Guardiola.

FIFA thinks former German FA president Wolfgang Niersbach should be banned for two years for his role in the weird, still-not-fully-explained debacle in which the German FA made a suspicious payment to FIFA through intermediaries. When in doubt, ban, is pretty much where I'm at with all this shit.

Here's a lede for you, courtesy of the BBC: A Belgian whose older brother was one of the suicide bombers in the terror attacks on Brussels has won gold at the European Taekwondo Championships.
