Roger Staubach and Roger Goodell Have a Good Laugh About Concussions and Memory Loss

Jokes and Jokes and Jokes!

Stop me if you heard this one: a former quarterback and the current commissioner of the NFL walk into the bar and can't keep their names straight because they've been concussed.

[loosens neck tie a la Rodney Dangerfield]

For some godforsaken reason, Roger Staubach thought it would be a good idea to joke about concussions during some stupid black tie NFL event earlier in the week. He tells the crowd that he had the opportunity to sit next to the commissioner, who he refers to as Pete Rozelle. Pete Rozelle, in fact, is dead. But he was commissioner during Staubach's playing career. And that was the former Cowboys great's joke to warm up the crowd. The joke continued as he had to be "reminded" that the commissioner is actually Roger Goodell. The punchline: "I apologize, I had six concussions in the NFL." Surprisingly, the crowd was not totally on board with this hilarious dig at a serious issue the NFL has been loathe to address!

Staubach also said that Goodell, who was awkwardly laughing, approved the joke. So everything is fine at the NFL. Just fine.
