See the video effects essential to making a Wes Anderson film, well, look like a Wes Anderson film.

Believe it or not, Wes Anderson does not attain his notorious vintage color palettes and retro set designs through use of a time machine. LOOK Effects, the VFX company that worked on the auteur's latest, The Grand Budapest Hotel, recently released a time-lapse video that details the behind-the-scenes video effects mastery that helped bring the director's vision to life.

The five-minute clip offers insight into a wide variety of techniques used during the pre-and-post production of the recent Hungarian epic: color-correcting, removing film dollies to yield the typical Andersonian pan-shots, as well as the 3D-modeling and green-screen processes needed for various action sequences.
