Donald Trump is so feckless and dumb, he actually thinks you are dumber than he is. That's the only way you can explain this man tweeting out a picture of a Pete Rose signed baseball and inferring it means anything other than Pete Rose is coin-operated arcade game with a pen, programmed to scrawl whatever it's been prompted to on a baseball, and then sign a name. Yet here is this tweet from the Donald, ahead of the Ohio primary.

Just for shits and giggles, let's look at other things Pete Rose has written on baseballs for money.

There is a baseball for sale where Pete Rose claims he was the first man on the moon:

There is a baseball for sale where Pete Rose apologizes for betting on baseball:

There is a baseball for sale where Pete Rose apologizes for breaking up The Beatles:

There is a baseball for sale where Pete Rose apologizes for assassinating President John F. Kennedy:

There are even baseballs floating around out there where Pete apologizes for "screw[ing] up the economy" and implying his birth and the death of Abraham Lincoln are cosmically linked. Pete Rose is even selling autographed copies of the document banning him from baseball.

Trump's tweet caused folks to believe that Pete Rose "endorsed" Trump, which is really a helluva sentence to type months away from a Presidential election. But Rose's lawyer has clapped back at those claims, and said that Charlie Hustle is steering clear of politics.

From the quotes given to the Cincinnati Enquirer by Raymond Genco, it's not even clear when Rose signed the ball, or if he even signed it for Trump. There's a good chance a trolling baseball fan got Rose to sign it with Trump's slogan as a gag and Trump just co-opted it because that is what Trump does.

Rose may have signed the ball at the request of a fan or customer at his regular autograph booth in Las Vegas, Genco said. It's uncertain how Trump obtained it, the lawyer said.
"We want to be perfectly clear Pete is staying out of politics entirely," Genco said.

"Pete has made a point not to endorse any particular presidential candidate," Genco said. "Though he respects everyone who works hard for our country – any outlet that misinterpreted a signed baseball for an endorsement was wrong."

It is a testament to how insane, stupid, and insanely stupid the existence of Donald Trump: Presidential Candidate is that someone even had to say that.
